Final Images

These are my final edited images for my project and the order they would appear in in a magazine. The final bit of editing I did was to add to put the two photos I had chosen for each model together to look like a double page in a magazine. Overall I am very happy with how this turned out and the photos are just as I envisioned them throughout the project.

YouTube Behind The Scenes Video

This is the behind the scenes video I made for my youtube channel for this project:

Hannah Twigg (2015) 'And off she went...' behind the scenes video [online] available from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHNH1n9Q7eQ [accessed 9th May 2015]

I was very happy with how it came out and the way I put it together however on the day, due to the time lapse filming the camera ran out of battery not long after we arrived on location. This meant I didn't get any time lapse of the Rapunzel makeup application and not as much behind the scenes shot as I wanted. If I were to do this again I would bring my camera charger with me so it would last the whole day and I think this would make the video even more interesting

Promoting:

To promote the video I shared it on my social media platforms linked to my youtube channel - twitter and my facebook page. This would help the video get more views and reach more of an audience.

Reception

This was the real time view count when the video had been out for 5 hours (450 views)

This was the view count when the video had been out for a full 24 hours (750 views) because of this I expect the video to get around 1000-2000 views in the next couple of months.

This is the comments I received on the video within the first day

Conclusion

Overall I'm extremely happy with the outcome of this project and think I put a lot of effort into it. The final photographs are just as I envisioned them when I first started imagining the project and I am especially pleased with how I edited them into a very clear fashion magazine context. I believe doing this makes the focus of my project a lot clearer and improves the quality of the final images from just shots of makeup to a makeup project thought out through a clear brief and context. I was also pleased I chose to do a behind the scenes video for my youtube channel as so far it has had a good response and I definitely want to continue incorporating my youtube channel into my studies at university.

Some of the things I feel I have improved upon in this project are, firstly, my design skills. My designs are something I have been repetitively given criticism for as drawing isn't my strong point and I find it difficult to portray the idea I have in my head onto paper. Although there is still room for improvement in my designs I think they are the best I've ever done and I spent the most time on them I ever head. I think this shows and I will continue to put this amount of effort in in future. Secondly I feel I have greatly improved upon my wig skills - although I didn't do any knotting (this was something I'd done before in Dramatic Contexts) I did weaving for the first time and completed two full chignons and a marteux - this adds up to over 4 meters of wefting and I know feel extremely confident in this area.

Some areas I may be able to improve upon is my time management. Due to the Easter holidays being in the middle of this project I found it difficult to organised my time and complete the practical parts of the project in the allotted amount of time. Although I did work very hard and have enough time to finish the digital log element of the project with a small amount of time to spare, next time I do a project I would like to timetable my schedule of work from the beginning to keep me more on track, even when I have something like a holiday during the term.

I chose to do a fashion/editorial project for this unit because it was something I'd never done an entire project on and I am still currently undecided between going into film/TV makeup and fashion/editorial. I have enjoyed this project more than I have enjoyed any other project and it has peaked my interest a lot into looking more into fashion/editorial makeup and completing work experience in this field (which I did 3 work experience jobs on during this project) I still haven't decided between fashion/editorial and film/TV industries but this project has let me know that fashion/editorial is a viable career option.
