Conclusion

Overall I'm extremely happy with the outcome of this project and think I put a lot of effort into it. The final photographs are just as I envisioned them when I first started imagining the project and I am especially pleased with how I edited them into a very clear fashion magazine context. I believe doing this makes the focus of my project a lot clearer and improves the quality of the final images from just shots of makeup to a makeup project thought out through a clear brief and context. I was also pleased I chose to do a behind the scenes video for my youtube channel as so far it has had a good response and I definitely want to continue incorporating my youtube channel into my studies at university.

Some of the things I feel I have improved upon in this project are, firstly, my design skills. My designs are something I have been repetitively given criticism for as drawing isn't my strong point and I find it difficult to portray the idea I have in my head onto paper. Although there is still room for improvement in my designs I think they are the best I've ever done and I spent the most time on them I ever head. I think this shows and I will continue to put this amount of effort in in future. Secondly I feel I have greatly improved upon my wig skills - although I didn't do any knotting (this was something I'd done before in Dramatic Contexts) I did weaving for the first time and completed two full chignons and a marteux - this adds up to over 4 meters of wefting and I know feel extremely confident in this area.

Some areas I may be able to improve upon is my time management. Due to the Easter holidays being in the middle of this project I found it difficult to organised my time and complete the practical parts of the project in the allotted amount of time. Although I did work very hard and have enough time to finish the digital log element of the project with a small amount of time to spare, next time I do a project I would like to timetable my schedule of work from the beginning to keep me more on track, even when I have something like a holiday during the term.

I chose to do a fashion/editorial project for this unit because it was something I'd never done an entire project on and I am still currently undecided between going into film/TV makeup and fashion/editorial. I have enjoyed this project more than I have enjoyed any other project and it has peaked my interest a lot into looking more into fashion/editorial makeup and completing work experience in this field (which I did 3 work experience jobs on during this project) I still haven't decided between fashion/editorial and film/TV industries but this project has let me know that fashion/editorial is a viable career option.
