Cinderella - Full Makeup Test

I did a full makeup and hair test for the character of Cinderella on my model. Overall there were a lot of problems with the practice, mainly focusing on the hair as I hadn't planned the style out properly.

Makeup

Skin

The skin makeup for this look is quite simple although I feel it needs more adding to it for a high fashion/editorial look. The makeup is pale with a lot of bronze added over the top as it goes with the green and gold theme of the look. However I want the skin makeup to have more impact so I'd like to add some loose gold glitter on the tops of the cheekbones in a similar way to the purple on the Rapunzel look.

Eyebrows

I was happy with how I filled in the eyebrows and would like to repeat this for the final makeup

Eyes

I was happy with how the eye makeup turned out and it is similar to how I envisioned it in my design. I like the intensity of the colours and I may just make the eyeliner a little thicker. Something i feel does need a bigger change is the amount of diamantes stuck around the eyes  I don't feel three is enough to stand out so I'd like to add some more in a similar pattern.

Prosthetic

I was surprised by how the prosthetic turned out as I was expecting it to be worse as the piece I was trailing with had broken cap plastic. There are a few edges that need more work such as under the nose but overall I like the look of the piece and think it will turn out better in the final time with a better prosthetic.

Hair

The hair went wrong multiple times during my trails and I am not happy with how it looked for this finished look. I attached the chignon and was very happy with how it curled with the natural hair and it looked very realistic when it was all down together. The updo was changed during the practices and at first it had a large backcombed shape at the front. I liked this but it wasn't as historically accurate so I attempted to change it. I will draw up a better and more thought out design for the final makeup next week. The hair needs more volume and impact as does the plait as this is a theme of all the looks. I pulled the baby hairs on my model out at the front of the head and for the final makeup I will use a curling wand to tightly curl these around the face as this is a historical feature of the hair from the early 1800's.

Rapunzel - Full Makeup Test

I did a full test of the Rapunzel makeup and hair to try out a few last techniques, finalize products and to practice the looks all together. Overall I was very happy with how the look turned out and I know it only needs minor improvements for the final piece.

Makeup

Skin - I was happy with the skin makeup and it was how I imagined it from my initial design. I tested using the lilac concealer from the bruise wheel for getting the purple colour round the edge of the face and liked the effect a lot as it's a creamy consistency so blended into the foundation nicely and didn't look too overdone. I also added a purple glitter on the top of the cheekbones to add an extra dimension to the look. I found in some place the glitter went a little patchy and thick so next time I would like to fade it out around the edges slightly and use less glitter glue so it sticks more lightly.

Eyebrows

I began filling in the eyebrows with a powder and then decided it was too light so used a wax. Using it in the wrong order means the brows are not as exact as I'd like them. However I did use a concealer around the edges of the brows to make them stand out more and this was a technique I liked a lot as it made them stand out and look at lot more defined.

Eyes

The eye makeup is kept slightly more simple in this look and I was happy with how it turned out. The line on the left eye is slightly wonky as it's the side I'm not as good at applying makeup on that side and this is something I need to improve upon next time as for a fashion/editorial look every line needs to be very neat. I also need to make sure when I apply the purple cream it doesn't smudge the eye makeup underneath. The false eyelashes applied well and I was very happy with how they went with the look, I feel they completed the eye makeup.

 Lips

I used two different tones of lipsticks in pink/purple colours for the lips which I was happy with but I feel I need a slightly neater lip line. I then added purple glitter in the center of the bottom lip to make it stand out slightly more.

Tears

I experimented with two different tear sizes to see which I liked more. I painted each with a gold aquacolour then added a loose gold glitter to the bottom. Overall I think the middle sized tear suited the makeup more as the large tear is too overpowering for the makeup, especially if I wanted to add more than one. For the assessment I will add three of the medium sized ones.

This was the finished hair that I was very happy with. I added the chignon for extra volume at the crown and two rows of pre-made wefts at the bottom for extra length and thickness. Overall I was extremely happy with the hair and this is almost exactly how I want it in the final photos. Because I'd never put a chignon in before I put it on back to front meaning it didn't sit properly and could be seen in the style. Next time I will put it in the other way and this will make the style a lot better. The other thing I'd like to improve on is winding a small bit of hair round the end of the plait to make the look more polished and finished. I'd also like to pull out the front fishtale plait slightly so it has a little more volume.
