I wanted to look at a lot of different fashion spreads in magazines of different fashion genres to compare key themes between them to inform my own context and how I want the photos and editing to be done.

I like that this shoot is in the outdoors like mine will be. The colours are all muted and dark, matching the clothes that are being displayed. The hair and makeup also mirrors the wild theme of the shoot.

This spread was only 6 pages long which was nice to see are shorter one as mine will probably be 8 pages. The eclectic background in this one matches the slightly out there theme of the clothes, as does the poses the model is making.

It was interesting seeing in this spread how a lot of the images were not sized to the page and instead had borders around them. It made the pages look slightly less cohesive but visually more interesting.
Wonderland

This was a Dolce and Gabbana advert in the front of Wonderland magazine which I included because it has a fairy tale theme. Like mine will be it's taken in the woods. It has full body shots to advertise the clothes and accessories.

This spread was all done with two photos across two pages with no single photo spread across two. However it did have a mixture of black and white and colour photos on the same pages. The makeup and hair is the same in every shot.

Like with Dazed, W's photos aren't fitted to the page and a lot have borders or are off center. And again there is a mixture of black and white and colour photos on the same page. Each photo is also very varied with more of an overarching theme over the whole shoot.

Here there are a mixture of two and one photos per page, different borders and a mixture of black and white and colour. However because its Vouge, the background and makeup and hair is more muted.
It was very useful to collect fashion magazine spreads to compare and contrast between magazine, seeing trends and differences in them all. Most had one photo that went over two pages as there title page with the title being overlayed on top of the photo in a gap somewhere. In most photos the clothes information was then put in a small font also on top of the photo in the corner of a page. A lot of the spreads had single page photos after the title page, however some had double page photos interspersed in the spread. Even though they were advertising clothes, a lot of photos were also head shots showing the makeup and hair clearly which is useful to see and know for my own photoshoot.
